This article is the first part of Chapter 11 of The Declaration of the Age of Physical Medicine (Yoon Jong-won). It is an academic exposition presenting the author's hypothesis of physical medicine, and the body text, figures, and citations follow the original manuscript.

This article sets out from a single question. Modern medicine divides disease into more than 200 names and handles them in different departments, but is there truly no common root among these countless diseases? The five-stage (DTDMC) physical collapse principle of the change of all things examined earlier, one mother's thirty years spread out upon that principle, and even the structure of the fork that bore completely different results at the same stage. There is a single reality that all these stories point to in common. Now we wish to formally reveal the name of that reality.

This name is based on two core principles. The first is a great principle that applies to all things in the world. "The cause of everything collapsing and falling ill is the dual blockade phenomenon in which flow is blocked and confined." The second is a principle that applies to our human body. "The fundamental cause of aging and chronic disease is the invisible, very small stone, that is, microcalcification." When these two principles are connected as one, the phrase "the Age of Physical Medicine" is finally completed. It is no longer an age of relying simply on medicine or genes. A new age has opened in which we directly resolve the physical problems themselves of the flow inside the body, the difference of pressure, and the blockage phenomenon.

Here let us make one thing clear in advance. We are not claiming that microcalcification is the first cause that raises every cancer in the world. In the case of the general adult solid cancers that arise with age, microcalcification and cancer are merely two products grown in the same bad environment. Cancers not due to the environment (such as childhood cancer, hereditary cancer, cancer due to viruses, and blood cancer) cannot be explained by the problem of the environment when the disease first arises. But in the process of the cancer gradually progressing, they all in the end undergo the same environmental crisis of "dual blockade," like a narrow pathway being blocked. This difference will be handled in detail in the next chapter.

If we look one layer deeper into the causes of death we commonly know, a completely different scenery unfolds. The five diseases of myocardial infarction, stroke, complications of high blood pressure, complications of diabetes, and dementia (Alzheimer's) are handled in different departments in modern medicine. But if we examine the fine blood vessels of the place where these diseases arose, one common reality is hidden. It is precisely the phenomenon in which microcalcification, piled up like residue on the wall of the thin blood vessels, has tightly blocked the flow of blood. The same problem was merely divided into five disease names according to in which organ it occurred, whether it arose in the heart, or in the brain.

Then another question arises. Where on earth did this microcalcification come from? The fact that microcalcification was found even in the blood vessels of Egyptian mummies 4,000 years ago, and the fact that microcalcification does not arise in growing children who usually eat the most calcium, tells us one answer. The microcalcification that piles up in the body arises not because of the calcium we ate by mouth, but is the piling up of old calcium that flowed out of my body's bones. That is, not the "amount" of calcium but the "direction" the calcium heads decides the result called disease.

The body that follows hereafter proceeds in the following order. We formally reveal the names of the two core principles mentioned earlier, examine the true identity of the number-one cause of death and the bone-calcium outflow DIAH trigger that protects health, and how the direction of the calcium that flowed out of the bone overturns the flow of our body. Next we learn the single reality hidden behind the 200-some disease names and the true meaning of aging, and lastly we will lay a bridge to how all these stories connect to the domain of "cancer." When all this explanation is finished, you will understand clearly the fact that the diseases that looked complicated are in fact woven into one great stem.

Two Propositions: The Universal Collapse of All Things and the Collapse of the Human Body

The following question is the core of all this discussion. How are the 200-some disease names of modern medicine divided? There are 30-some diagnostic names in the heart alone, 40-some in the brain, 20-some in the liver, and 15-some in the kidney. Modern medicine handles these countless diseases divided among more than 200 detailed departments. It is a way in which one medicine, one procedure, and one specialist are assigned to one disease name. This way is very efficient and excellent at treating each disease in depth. But there is one thing it is missing. It is precisely the "common root" that binds these 200-some diseases into one.

To answer this question we must set out from the universal principle of all things in the cosmos, beyond our body. Every system in the world exists on the basis of "flow" and "difference (gradient)." Nuclear fusion occurs at the center of a star because a difference of pressure and temperature is maintained, and a river flows because there is a difference of height. That the calcium concentration inside and outside our cells differs by as much as ten thousand-fold is also because a concentration difference across the cell membrane operates. For any system to be maintained healthily, this difference must be kept. Conversely, that a system collapses means that this difference collapses.

And this collapse does not occur at only one place. The blockage phenomenon is amplified like a multiplication. Only when two places (the place that sends the signal and the place that becomes the pathway) are blocked simultaneously does one finally fall into a serious state that cannot be turned back. If only one place is blocked, it may take time to recover but the chance remains. But if two places are tightly blocked simultaneously, the state worsens uncontrollably, and once the critical point is crossed it can never return to its original state. This is precisely the "dual blockade." Here comes the first principle that runs through all things. It is that the fundamental cause of everything collapsing is precisely the "dual blockade that occurs as the difference disappears."

Now let us narrow from the principle of the cosmos to the story of our body. There is exactly one reality that raises this fatal dual blockade inside our body. It is precisely the invisible, very small stone, "microcalcification." When old calcium and phosphorus that flowed out of the bone stick to the wall of the thin blood vessels, each one of these small pebbles blocks two roads simultaneously. The first is the "blockage of the signal." The signal system that regulated the normal calcium concentration inside and outside the cell is severed. The second is the "blockage of the pathway." As the microvasculature through which blood should flow smoothly narrows, the normal law of blood circulation is completely ruined. The microcalcification that thus blocks signal and pathway simultaneously performs exactly the role of "dual blockade" in the process by which disease arises. Here comes the second principle that applies to our body. It is precisely the fact that "the fundamental cause of aging and chronic disease is microcalcification."

If we combine these two principles, one fact becomes clear. The countless diseases that modern medicine calls by dividing them into 200-some are in fact nothing but different names attached according to in which organ, in which blood vessel of our body the single cause of "dual blockade due to microcalcification" occurred. When this blockage occurs in the blood vessels of the heart it becomes myocardial infarction, and when it occurs in the blood vessels of the brain it becomes stroke. When it occurs in the kidney it becomes renal failure, when it appears in the pancreas it becomes diabetes, and when it occurs in the blood vessels that protect the brain it becomes dementia (Alzheimer's). This new interpretation, that the 200-some diseases that look complicated in fact branched out from a single root, is the point where the "Age of Physical Medicine," which tries to directly resolve the physical blockage, sets out.

This new viewpoint by no means denies existing modern medicine. The 200-some disease names that modern medicine classified are still useful, and the medicines and surgical techniques and the specialists' knowledge that have developed all this while are also all absolutely necessary. It merely means adding one new layer upon the existing treatment. If existing medicine handles the "symptom (surface)" of the disease revealed on the outside, physical medicine resolves the "fundamental cause (the underlying reality)" that raised the disease. Only when these two turn together can the complete recovery of the patient be achieved.

Here the true identity of "aging" is also revealed. Growing old is not simply time passing. Aging refers to the process in which microcalcification piles up in the thin blood vessels of our body so that the flow and balance inside the body collapse simultaneously. The reason the blood vessels of a person in their 30s and the blood vessels of a person in their 70s differ is not simply that the age is greater, but because of the amount and spread of microcalcification piled up all this while. Time merely flowed along while microcalcification piled up; time itself does not make a person grow old. This is precisely the true meaning of aging as physical medicine sees it.

Figure 1 organizes into one table how the two core principles mentioned earlier connect. You can confirm at a glance the structure in which the universal "dual blockade" that collapses all things in the world appears in our body in the form of "microcalcification," and this is divided into the five representative diseases we commonly know according to in which organ it piles up.

The Identity of the Number-One Cause of Death: Diagnostic Names Branching from the Same Root and the DIAH Trigger

Looking at modern medical statistics, the number-one cause of death is cancer. But if we look one step deeper into the causes of death, a completely different fact is revealed. The five diseases of myocardial infarction, stroke, complications of high blood pressure, complications of diabetes, and dementia (Alzheimer's) are recorded at the hospital as different diseases, but if we examine the thin blood vessels of the place where these diseases arose, a single common root exists. It is precisely the phenomenon in which a very small stone (microcalcification) piles up on the blood-vessel wall and tightly blocks the flow of blood.

Myocardial infarction is the result of microcalcification piling up on the wall of the heart's blood vessels. When microcalcification piles up in the blood vessel and the pathway narrows, the flow of blood drops by a far larger margin than that. Even if the pathway narrows only by half, the amount of blood that flows decreases sharply to as much as one-sixteenth. When, in this state, the supply of oxygen and nutrition going to the heart muscle is completely cut off, that is precisely myocardial infarction.

Stroke also begins from the same root. When the microcalcification piled up on the wall of the brain's thin blood vessels blocks the flow of blood so that the oxygen and nutrition going to the brain cells are cut off, it becomes "cerebral infarction," and when the blood-vessel wall, old and weakened because of microcalcification, cannot withstand the pressure and bursts, it becomes "cerebral hemorrhage." Modern medicine diagnoses these as two completely different diseases, but in fact they are merely results branching out from the single cause of microcalcification.

High blood pressure is also the same principle. When the microcalcification piled up in the thin blood vessels narrows and obstructs the flow of blood, our heart must forcibly squeeze out stronger pressure in order to send the usual amount of blood to the whole body. The blood pressure that has abnormally risen as a result is what the hospital calls "high blood pressure." Blood-pressure medicine merely forcibly presses down the pressure revealed on the surface; it leaves the true cause, the microcalcification in the blood vessels, as it is. The reason blood pressure rises again immediately when the medicine is stopped lies precisely here.

Diabetes is no exception either. When microcalcification piles up in the blood vessels of the pancreas and blocks the oxygen and nutrition going to the cells that make insulin, the amount of insulin secreted drops sharply. Moreover, when the microcalcification piled up in the blood vessels of the whole body ruins the normal signal transduction inside the cells, even the secreted insulin comes to be unable to operate properly in the body. This is called "insulin resistance," and the type 2 diabetes we commonly know is precisely this state.

Dementia (Alzheimer's) also arises from the same root. When microcalcification piles up on the blood vessels of the brain (especially on the wall of the blood vessels that protect the brain from external substances) and ruins the environment around the brain cells, the garbage that comes out of the brain (beta-amyloid protein, etc.) cannot get out and keeps piling up. Modern medicine mainly sees this piled-up residue as the cause of dementia and tries to treat it, but fundamentally the true beginning of the disease is that the clean blood flow and nutritional balance of the cerebral blood vessels first collapsed because of microcalcification.

If we bind the five diseases mentioned earlier into one root, an astonishing fact is revealed. Although they are recorded, divided into different causes of death in the hospital statistics, these causes of death in fact all began from the single true cause of "the dual blockage of the blood vessels due to microcalcification." Then here one question arises. Where on earth, and how, is this microcalcification made? That answer lies in the four gates placed on the road to death, that is, the four major gateways that threaten health (DIAH).

The four gates (DIAH) refer to the four crisis signals of nutritional shortage (deficiency, D), a wound inside the body (inflammation, I), the phenomenon of the body turning acidic (acidosis, A), and oxygen shortage (hypoxia, H). These four are the fatal signs that actually appear right before a patient loses their life in the emergency room or intensive care unit. Looking at the latest criteria for sepsis published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), we can see well how these four crises are intertwined. Sepsis is when serious inflammation (I) spreads over the whole body due to bacterial infection so that organs are ruined, and when deficiency (D), in which blood cannot circulate properly, and acidification (A), in which fatigue substances pile up excessively in the body, are added to this, it becomes fatal septic shock. Also, acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), in which lung function drops so that one cannot inhale oxygen, is a representative example of hypoxia (H). Thus the terrible state in which these four gates open wide all at once at the threshold of death is precisely sepsis, multiple organ failure, and acute respiratory distress syndrome.

But here there is an important fact one must be sure to know. The opening of these four gates all at once is the last moment of life, but the four crisis signals that open the gates are, even in the ordinary daily life we live, ceaselessly being pulled, however weakly. Even within a weary day of losing sleep to frequent overtime and hastily filling meals with instant food, in our body small nutritional shortage and inflammation, and the crisis of the body turning slightly acidic and oxygen becoming short, are quietly progressing every day.

And astonishingly, in order to get through these small everyday crises, our body draws out a little calcium from the bone every day. The emergency rescue member deployed to clean up the body's state of emergency is precisely the actual substance called "calcium," which was inside the bone. That fatal crisis situation that explodes enormously at the moment of death is turning on the switch a little, every day, while one is alive. When these small crises pile up bit by bit day after day, one unavoidable result follows in the end.

That is precisely what we commonly call "aging" and "chronic disease." Atherosclerosis, in which the blood vessels harden, diabetes, dementia (Alzheimer's), osteoporosis, in which the bones weaken, chronic renal failure, in which kidney function is ruined, and even the process by which a cancer mass grows: all are the same. The hospital diagnoses these as different diseases, but in the end all these diseases are merely the result of the four major crisis signals (DIAH) chronically turning on so that calcium keeps flowing out of the bone and causing problems all over the body. Regrettably, chronic disease is, in the end, the road of walking very slowly toward these four gates.

If the event in which the four gates open with a bang all at once is "death," "chronic disease" refers to the state in which the same crisis signals are pressing the switch a little every day. What is worth noting is the fact that this is a very real and "physical blockage" that occurs before invisible, complicated problems of genes or molecules arise. It is the phenomenon in which clean oxygen cannot reach every corner, needed nutrition cannot enter, and the body's residue, microcalcification, and acidic substances cannot get out, so that the flow is tightly blocked. The emergency-prescription medicine deployed to open up this tightly blocked crisis as a stopgap is also a substance with the clear reality called "calcium."

The name "physical medicine," which unravels the root of disease not from the perspective of medicine but from the physical perspective of flow and blockage, was born precisely here. It will now have become clear that the diseases that were scattered each in the upper ranks of the causes of death in statistics in fact branched out from a single common root, in which microcalcification piled up in the thin blood vessels obstructs the flow. Then lastly one very important question remains. Where on earth in the body do the countless calciums that flowed out of my bone every day flow to? That answer we will examine in the following article.

The Direction of Calcium: Calcium That Entered by Mouth and Calcium That Came Out of the Bone

Then where on earth is this small stone in the blood vessels, "microcalcification," made? Is it that the calcium we ate by mouth piled up like residue, microcalcification, on the blood-vessel wall? Here there is one point to make clear. If the calcium in the food we ate were the true cause of microcalcification, the person who usually eats the most calcium should have the most microcalcification in their body. But the reality is completely the opposite.

Shall we look at growing children who shoot up? Children eat calcium every day through milk or food, and parents even separately feed them calcium supplements to make them taller. But there is no medical report that microcalcification was found in children's blood vessels. Even the "coronary artery calcium score" examination, which sees how much calcium has piled up in the heart's blood vessels, is an examination needed only for adults over 40, and has no meaning at all for young children. In the group that consumes the most calcium in the world, microcalcification actually does not arise at all.

The reason is only one. In the growth period, all the calcium that entered the body goes to the "bone." It is because the bone is in the midst of growing. The calcium that entered by mouth is absorbed into the body, heads to the bone riding the blood, and calcium that once settles in the bone does not flow out into the blood vessels again. That is, it is a normal state in which the direction the calcium moves is fixed exactly "from the mouth to the bone." Because calcium thus heads wholly to the bone alone, no calcium microcalcification remains to float and pile up on the blood-vessel wall.

When one grows old, the situation becomes the exact opposite. The bone no longer grows and rather melts down little by little. When bad environments (ceaseless stress, insufficient sleep, harmful additives in processed food, chronic inflammation in the body, acidification of the body due to fatigue substances, and oxygen shortage) pile up bit by bit, our body declares a state of emergency and melts the bone to draw out calcium. At this time the direction the calcium moves heads "out of the bone, riding the blood, to the wall of the thin blood vessels." In the end the true identity of the microcalcification that blocks the blood vessels is not the calcium eaten by mouth but the "old calcium that flowed out of my body's bones."

This astonishing fact is confirmed just the same in the actual field of treating patients. A study published in a renowned medical journal called this strange phenomenon the "calcium paradox." Looking at postmenopausal women or chronic renal failure patients whose kidney function is ruined, the phenomenon in which the bone empties out and weakens appears together with the blood vessels filling up with stones. There is also a research result that the more the patient's blood vessels have hardened like stone, the lower the bone density was, rather. The fact that the blood vessels harden as much as the bone weakens: this is precisely the most powerful evidence that the direction of calcium is flowing completely backward.

Going back through history, we can find the same fact. A famous research team published in the world-class medical journal The Lancet imaged 137 ancient mummies found in various places around the world, such as Egypt and Peru, with a CT machine. Astonishingly, in about 34 percent of the mummies from 4,000 years ago, beginning from 2000 BC, the calcification phenomenon of stones piled up in the blood vessels was clearly confirmed. In the mummy of an Egyptian princess from 1580 BC, and even in the mummies of ancient humans who lived by hunting before farming, the same blood-vessel blockage was found.

This result tells us one very important fact. The microcalcification that piles up in the blood vessels already existed in the human body a full 4,000 years before the "calcium supplements" that modern people take were invented. Therefore the claim that stones arose in the blood vessels because of eating a lot of calcium supplements does not add up. The true material of the pile of stones that blocks the blood vessels is not the calcium that entered by mouth but the old calcium that lost its direction and flowed out backward from the bone. Whether an ancient person of 4,000 years ago or a modern person of today, the principle by which our body grows old and falls ill is the same. Only where the bad conditions that make one melt the bone and squeeze out calcium (excessive stress, insufficient sleep, chronic inflammation that does not heal, acidification of the body, and oxygen shortage) pile up layer upon layer is the fatal microcalcification finally made.

Figure 4 organizes these two diverging directions of calcium into one table so it is easy to understand. You can confirm at a glance the difference between the "normal flow (growth period)," which enters by mouth and heads healthily to the bone, and the "reversed flow (aging and chronic disease)," which melts out of the bone and piles up as microcalcification on the blood-vessel wall.
